Description
Sideway, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire born middle order right-handed batsman Alfred Glover was educated at Repton School and made his first class debut for Warwickshire in the 1895 season, going on to play for the County until 1909. In his last three seasons at Edgbaston he was the County captain. In all, he played 151 first class matches scoring 5,187 runs at an average of 25.67, including 7 centuries, with a highest score of 124. An occasional though sometimes effective right-arm medium bowler, Glover rook 49 wickets in first class cricket at 32.20 apiece, with a best return of 5-21, his only five wicket innings performance. He also took 81 catches.
