Headington, Oxfordshire born right-arm fast-medium bowler Henry Huggins made his debut for Gloucestershire in 1901 and became a regular member of Gloucestershire’s attack in the period leading up to the First World War, playing 200 first class matches through to 1921. A lower order right-handed batsman, Huggins could be a useful contributor and managed 10 half centuries with a highest score of 92, averaging 14.43 with the willow. But his principal role was bowling and he took 584 wickets in his career at 29.03 apiece with a best performance of 9-34, taking ten wickets in a match on 5 occasions and recording 24 five wicket innings hauls. He also took 47 catches in first class play.
