Description
Sittingbourne, Kent born Claude Lewis was a slow left-arm orthodox spin bowler who made his County debut in 1933 and played both sides of the Second World War for Kent, playing 128 first class matches through to 1953. A definite tail ender, with the bat his highest score was only 27 and his average was only 6.41 despite 72 not out innings. His bowling produced 301 wickets at 27.23 apiece, with a best performance of 8-58, taking 10 or more wickets in a match on 4 occasions and five wickets in an innings 14 times. He also took 61 catches in first class play.
