Description
Marlborough, Wiltshire born right-handed batsman John Thompson was educated at Tonbridge School and St John’s College, Cambridge, playing for Cambridge University from 1938 and for Warwickshire. After the Second World War, Thompson was capped by Warwickshire in 1947, playing his last first class match in 1954. Thompson later toured Canada with the M.C.C. in 1959, although the tour matches were not categorised as first class.
In 68 first class matches, he scored 3,455 runs including 6 centuries at an average of 31.12, with a highest score of 191, and took 32 catches in those games.
